John Dennis on the Bill Post Radio Show
Bill Post asks John where he stands on the Second Amendment:
John: “Well, as I've said before, I don't think we even need a Second Amendment to tell me that I can have the means to protect my rights— to my life, my liberty, and my property. If you don't have access to the means, if they're denied to you, then the rights to those things are meaningless… The first thing… people within inner-cities [would say] is ‘please don’t ban guns, because it leaves us vulnerable to the criminals, who always manage to get guns.’”
[...]
Bill: "As a Congressman, what would you do about this mess in Afghanistan," etc?
John: "...I believe in a strong national defense, and the preamble of the Constitution, which says we come together to create a 'common defense,’ and we absolutely should have that… this has nothing to do with the troops, it has everything to do with the policy… I think we should end both of those episodes and really focus our energies on the real threats to us. The Afghanistan situation is just incredibly sad. I don't understand why we're staying there. To think that that place is the only place in the world where Al Qaeda can set up shop is just simply... not justified by the facts. The truth is 9/11 was planned out of Hamburg, Germany, and Florida to some degree. You know, the 'underwear bomber' did his business out of Kenya. Richard Reid, the 'shoe bomber', did his business out of London. I mean people can plan these attacks from anywhere. And yet we're spending 30 billion dollars to chase an Al Qaeda group which is largely gone from Afghanistan right now? It makes no sense whatsoever... it seems like the majority of the American people and the politicians want to get out..."
